We have heard that editors of journals like Nature are now requesting authors to provide cell identity verification on published articles, particularly for human cell lines. Has anyone else experienced this? Are there any standard guidelines for how and when the cells should be authenticated? Do we need official standards established, and if so---who would do that? Not the editors of journals, I hope!
